Love and Fear of God

The local small town Mennonite minister's wife, who grew up Amish, has become something of an author. She writes a wonderful column occasionally for the city paper, The Eugene Register-Guard, and has written a book, "Ordinary Days", which is a collection of her stories.

In one story about her first visit to the Pacific Ocean (She's from the midwest) she writes:

"The ocean seemed too fierce and uncontrollable for affection, that first day. But since then, I have come to love it, not like I enjoy lilacs and country roads, but more like I love God, with a healthy dose of fear and respect."

I think her analogy is profound. Any comments?

She has two books available on Amazon.

Homer, great analogy!

It brings to mind the passage exhorting us to behold the goodness and the severity of the Lord. Also the passage about the NT church growing in the fear of the Lord and the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

Blessings, Jeremiah
