His mistake is in his final line
we have exalted that for which there is no evidence, and neglected that for which there is abundant evidence.
Not every institutional church neglects what is most important. Not every institutional church exalts those things the book complains about. We all use bathwater (we all do things that are extra-biblical). Bathwater isn't bad as long as it's being used correctly and with proper motivations.
