Ian, you put everything into perspective. A split personality, I am both one of the most serious-minded people I know, and one of the lightest-hearted (interpretation: goofy). To keep the halves in balance is at times more challenging than any sane person should have to manage.
Nope. Can't see Rainier from our windows, but half a minute down the road and around the corner, our eyes are irresistibly drawn to a rugged stretch of the Cascade Mountain Range to the east. Many (if not most) of our east-west roads yield lovely, verdantly framed sightings of of the Cascades one way, and the Olympic Mountains, the other. I am continually exclaiming over them! Though not as spectacular, northward views commonly elicit delighted comment, and majestic Mount Rainier is to the southeast, nestled in foothills, readily visible from much of the area. This is a beautiful location. Too built-up for my taste, but the surrounding water, forest, hills and mountains more than make up for that. Because I spend much of my work-day on the road, I am blessed almost daily by encounters with lovely settings of all kinds. Methinks your camera would find plenty to keep it busy in the Pacific Northwest.
Thanks for the chuckle, Ian. Many blessings!
Joan
