Fishy, very fishy.

So many discrepancies in the details of supposed events, apart from anything else in the actual story (like being unscriptural).

Even if I had believed it, and I don't, my mind would boggle at the sheer unlikelihood of there being a SIGN at the gates of hell, saying "Welcome to Hell".
I wonder who would have put it there. God? Is that the sort of thing He would be likely to do? If not, it must be Satan or his angels, for whom the lake of fire was prepared, welcoming themselves in. I wonder where they found the materials.

It seems to be not hard to debunk this story based on its discrepancies. But finding an alternative explanation is more difficult.
Any thoughts as to alternatives anyone?

Uh... he didn't die and this was a vision in his mind

I`ll pretend I never saw it, and come back to the land of the living myself...

I watched the video and then read the paper debunking it. I must say, the paper was not very impressive and many of the arguments used against Daniel can be used against the bible as well. I think people have a problem with the video (including the person who wrote that report) because of what he claims to have seen once he died. It's very possible this man had a postmortem vision (hence the symbolism shown to him in heaven and hell) similar to what John saw, except a lot less weird. I didn't see any bad theology if one is to accept this as a symbolic vision. Yes, the wife had some bad theology but I don't think God holds that against people if they don't know any better.

As I was reading the story, I first had a positive impression, then I became skeptical, then I read elsewhere of the connection to Benny Hinn and Kenneth Copeland and that did it for me.

There's a corroberating article at http://www.heavensfamily.org/ss/pastor- ... surrection if anyone wants to take a look. Here's an interesting quote from the article:
He had relocated to Lagos to be closer to an international airport and a domestic airport that serves all of Nigeria. Someone had given him a large sum of money to purchase a nice house in Lagos, but he had used the money to purchase a generator, a sound system, platform, and a truck to facilitate his own evangelistic crusades in every state of Nigeria. He said that earthly things now mean nothing to him.
It seems like someone wanting to profit from such a story is turning down money and opportunities. Wouldn't that be considered blashphemy for prosperity teachers?

I`m not 100% au fait with Steve`s views on the afterlife and would be very interested to hear to what extent Daniel`s interpretations tie in with his, for example that hell is turned over to Satan so why shouldn`t he put up a mocking, sarcastic sign like that? and secondly the distinction between paradise and the mansion, the latter being the new Jerusalem.
