We went to a very nice church service today. The worship was anointed
and the preaching of the word was very good........The fellowship after was
rich during of which time they had a nice fellowship meal.......
Ok, now here it goes;
After the meal they had an auction in the sanctuary it was weird to us.
Reminded me of the money changers in the temple.
Please any comments Is this ok in church?
We left a bit stunned.
thanks

It sounds like the people need lessons in proper boundaries.
Think of it this way. Would you work on your car and get all dirty and greasy...in the parking lot of a world-class hotel? Would you keep your toiletries...in your living room? Would you tell a light-hearted joke...at a funeral? I would hope not, because doing any one of these things would break proper social boundaries.
Unfortunately, Americans seem to have more difficulty than people in other countries with keeping proper standards and setting proper boundaries. What you've described is a good example of mixing the sacred and the mundane together, and the effect is to lower the respect that people have for what's supposed to be sacred.
Make sense?
