Wow. That is really cool!anothersteve wrote:One time I was dreaming that I was lying on a bed and then a woman walked into the room to seduce me. In my dream I said the words "In the name of Jesus, go". I instantly woke up and found myself praying in tongues (I very rarely have ever prayed in tounges but this was one time).
It seemed at the time that the Spirit was helping me to pray, like it says in Romans 8:26.
sinning in our dreams?

Excellent point. I think our dreams are often produced from our brain sifting through the real life experiences we've encountered. Many of the reactions I've had to situations in my dreams revealed issues in my heart , whether good or bad.SoaringEagle wrote: I am 100% in agreement with you and was going to say the same thing in my own way. I was going to say that dreams can be to us a seperate possible reality beyond reality itself, where we can be in situations we currently are not likely to be in. I think these show us things in our hearts, but even in these we must use discerment and be led by the Spirit to process these things.
I'm not sure if the bad choices made in dreams are actually sin or just a warning of an area that God wants to work on. My conscience has never prompted me to repent for a poor dream decision and this leads me to think that no sin has been committed.
However, the dreams about Abe Lincoln riding a unicycle on the moon may be from pizza

I have been able to 'realize' i was dreaming on a few occassions and 'control' the development of the dream, but I don't recall ever choosing to commit a sin inside the dream, therefore I've never been convicted to repent from a decision made therein
But I'll agree with the crowd that if I willingly chose to sin within the context of a dream, I'd probably feel guilty and repent of that decision.

Let's face it, we all have impure things in our mind. A person is exposed to many bad things whether wanted or not and I do not see how it is impossible to "erase" them but you do no have to dwell on them. People get alzheimers and say and do all sorts of bad things that they would have never said or done in their right mind, which simply shows they have been exposed to evil.
I do not see you sin in what you dream any more than an alzheimers victim sins, you are not yourself in either case. I do believe, however, being a Christian will affect dreams in a positive way.
Just my opinion; worth price charged

How's this for a mind stretcher---
do you think Jesus committed any "sinful acts" in any of his dreams? the consensus on this forum from other discussions seems to be that Jesus had the capability to sin, but never did so, despite being tempted in the very same way that we are. he was also exposed to all sorts of evil.
thoughts?

If you mean by "committing sinful acts" that he had dreams that were illicit and so forth....then sure why not. Satan put all kinds of thoughts in Jesus' mind in the desert for example, so why not while he was sleeping.
If you mean, did he entertain them and find pleasure in "yelling at one of his detractors" in his dreams for example... Well, probably not. I think he would resist even in his dreams.
In my earlier more zealous days as a Christian, I would often dream about reaching the people I knew for Christ. Since Jesus came to seek the lost and do the father's will I could see him dreaming more along those lines.
I notice that the first people to respond usually get the ball rolling, so I'm looking forward to other thoughts.

PS...TK, you ask some real interesting questions.

That is a very interesting question, TK. I think I may agree with Steve. But it's very hard to figure out... dreams are such weird things!
In my church we were studying Joseph, and all of his dream stuff, and it's all very interesting. Dreams can be very mysterious, convicting, prophetic, etc. I find if I have a very weird, or impacting dream I write it down... just in case it might mean something significant.

Our dreams, it seems, are accurately desribed as what our brain has been sifting throughout the day.
Therefore our dreams will tell us what we've been thinking about throughout the day, subconsiously or otherwise. If we (men) have *gasp* inappropriate dreams, for example, we know what we've been thinking about during the day ... so cut it out.
But I agree with Nathan, our dreams are really weird sometimes.

I ageee with your main point, but do you think that perhaps it is not what we men are thinking about but perhaps what we are repressing? For example if I am tempted to look lustfully at an atractive woman walking down the street but avoid the thought, that same thought or might surface durring a dream. Not that I am trying to make any excuses but if lostfull thoughts is something that a peoson struggles with and they fight it all day, it seems possible that their guard may be down when they sleep and allow those thoughts to take controll.
