What is it about Faith?

"Genuine faith puts its letter in the mailbox and lets go. Distrust , however, holds onto a corner of the envelope and then wonders why the answer never arrives." ~~Streams in the Desert, yesterday
I really like this illustration. But it got me to thinking-- why does God like faith so much? I know the Bible defines what faith is, but does it explain anywhere why "without faith it is impossible to please God?"

I think faith is a poorly misunderstood thing, which is not good since so much seems to hinge on it.

Hey TK, one place to start is to read the read all the accounts after Heb 11:6 (in other words, the rest of the chapter) and see all the fruit that came as a result of faith. I see faith as the foundation for any act of obedience to God. If we trust him then we'll do what he says. For example, if God tells me not to take vengance in a siutation and leave it with Him to deal with, faith will cause me to follow through. Also, every prayer of petition is an act of faith. I wouldn't even bother praying if I didn't think God was God and could do something about a situation. I could go on and on but I think you'll get the idea.

Hi steve--

I think i have a pretty good grasp of how faith works and certainly understand the importance of it... obviously the Bible is replete with examples of faith.

but why do you think God is so "tickled pink" by our faith? What is it about it?

Perhaps because it comes down to two choices , follow our natural instincts or trust God (faith). There seems to be a pattern in this life which is when we follow our natural impulses we may get immediate gradification but following Godly advice often seems unnatural but really benefits us in the long run and gradually molds us into Christ's image, which pleases God.
