This question is for anyone who would like to answer, but I would like Steve's thoughts as well...

I just finished reading The Last Disciple by Hank and in there the apostle John talks about Judas. He is saying that he thinks that Judas might have turned Jesus in because he was a Zealot and wanted Jesus to defeat their enemies now. He thought that if he forced Jesus into action then He would have to fight.

Where in the world does Hank get this idea from? Or did he just completely make it up? Thanks!

This is not original to Hank. The speculation about Judas' motives has been around many years now. Seems like I first heard it back in the late 70's.

Could it be that Satan used Judas' blindness to the spiritual nature of the kingdom of the Messiah to successfully tempt Judas to betray Jesus?

I guess we can't really know, but maybe Judas' background provided fodder for Satan to tempt him with.

Just a thought.

I think this is being made way to complicated. The Bible teaches that Jesus came into the world at just the right time. All conditions were perfect for the coming of the Savior, His time of teaching, the betrayal, and the fact that the three first feasts of Israel which revealed Christ's death burial and ressurection were accomplished all in one weekend whereas they are normally spread out over a 2 week period of time.

The timing was perfect and that settles it for me.
