Trouble accessing the forum

Post by _Michelle » Thu Feb 22, 2007 10:13 pm

Hi everyone,

For nearly a week now, I have been unable to access this forum from my own computer (or the one I sometimes use during quiet times at work. ) Yesterday I discovered that I could log in on a different computer which I hadn't used before to arrive at this site. So, I guess there is some difficulty accessing the forum if you remained logged in...now you are permanently logged out.

I think Homer mentioned having the same trouble on the Narrow Path broadcast on Monday or Tuesday, as well.

Anyway, is there a way to unstick my computer? Right now I'm in my son's room using his computer, but he'll be home sooner or later and will kick me out. Besides, it's, well, interesting in here. I want to get back to my own desk!!!

I have been in touch with John about the forum bug, and he has tried (thus far, unsuccessfully) to get it back to normal. I am unable to log on when I am using Safari (the browser on my MacIntosh) and also using Mozilla (on my PC). I can only log on while using Explorer.

I think John is trying to figure out what's up with it, but he has limited time to work on it (he works a full-time job, pastors a church and has several young, home-schooled kids, so he can only work on this in his "free time."

If anyone out there knows what to do, and has time to notify John about how to fix it, the rest of us non-techies would be much obliged.

I had the same problem. It appears to crash when checking the ID at log-on , something in the cache. Happened with Mozzilla and Explorer. I have no idea on the fix at the server end but did get my computer working by clearing the cache.

I used Clean Up! freeware (332k) available from majorgeeks.com under disk cleaners. That or similar product may work for you.

I ran into the same issue.
I played around and found a temporary fix. I'm not able to determine a permanent solution.

First, delete cookies and internet files from your machine. This will prevent you from logging into the forum automatically.

Here is a link to the instructions for different browsers if you need them.
Delete cookies instructions for all browsers

From now until we hear from John or Steve that it is fixed, you'll just have to login each time you visit.

Don't check the box under the login that will log you in automatically. That will cause the failure.
