I don't see this as being a story about a "religious group" at all. The SCLC is more about race than religion. They are defined/described by Wiki as "an American civil rights organization. It played a prominent role in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s. SCLC was closely associated with its first president, Martin Luther King, Jr." Nowhere on the page does it even mention the words "religion" or "religious". The SCLC isn't as bad as Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton, but their goals are the same. Now if it was Crefflo Dollar, TD Jakes, or someone like that, I could see the story being one of religion endorsing Vicks. If it was a religious organization, you'd have people like Crefflo Dollar and TD Jakes coming to speak to their conference instead of Obama, Bill Clinton, and Jesse Jackson. Sound like any kind of religious gathering that you've attended lately?

Vick got everything he had coming to him. I don't really feel sorry for the guy, he didn't even acknowledge that he had done anything wrong until his buddies turned on him and he knew that he was in big trouble. Now he wants the judge to overturn his decision and let him get out of serving his time.
As far as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, They are nothing more than politicians. Many men in the south consider it an honor to wear the badge of "Reverend". I think it is dangerous in light of Jesus' words in Matthew 23. Not that all men who wear the word "Rev" are bad men, but many seem to like the praise it brings a little to much.

The AJC may have pulled the article. I don't know how long they keep articles on their website, but this one is about three months old. If I can find it, I will post another link.Paidion wrote:How did you guys get to the article?
