Help for a friend

The birth mother of my adopted son is going through a really tough time. Without going into much detail, she is young and has very little support in the world and is trying to figure out what her future is and how to deal with the terrible things that have happened to her in her life, her choices (past and present), etc. I am considering sending her Steve's series on Suffering or the one on Biblical Counsel for Change.

Mostly, I ask that you pray for us that we will continue to be a witness and support for her, but especially that she find peace and guidance through a wholesale repentence and turning to the Lord, and that she can forgive both herself and those who have hurt her. She is a professing Christian, but has no walk or appreciation for that relationship, and clearly hasn't had a complete surrender.

But, I would also appreciate any ideas on things I might send her to encourage her and speak to her present situation. She is considering entering into a resident ministry program to assist people in her situation, so prayer for direction in this decision too would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Darin

Hi Darin,

The book "Addiction and Grace" by Gerald May had a profound impact on my wife and I, even though neither of us had addiction issues (or so we thought). I think every Christian should read this book.
