Ruing Elite, One world Govt, etc

Hi All-

There is a gentleman in my church who has gotten somewhat wrapped up in the conspiracy type things dealing with the "ruling elite" and the efforts to create a "one world govt" -- he listens to a guy named Stanley Montieth who apparently has a radio show that presses these theories. he says montieth is a christian but i have no idea as i know nothing about him.

anyway, this gentleman from chruch is trying to get me all worked up about this as well(as if we could do something about it if it is true). what advice do you give me in dealing with him? personally, my focus has to be on being a disciple of Jesus, and i find these other collateral concerns rather distracting. i believe that satan may be using christians' interest in these end time scenarios to distract them from what is truly important, i.e. being a disciple of Jesus Christ.

i guess my point is that if we are truly His and one with Him, then regardless what happens we will be ready. worrying about the rothchilds and rockefellers and other "power brokers" seems somewhat silly when compared with the only true power broker, i.e God.

I agree with the assessments of TK and Murph. I'm not sure about RND's suggestion that the Roman Catholics are behind all this—though that could be true, and I would not necessarily be aware of it—nor care about it.

I actually know Dr. Stanley Monteith. He lives in Santa Cruz and has his own radio network originating from his house. I have actually been interviewed by him on his show (which was awkward, because he is dispensational and did not realize that I was not). Over the years, to my surprise, he and his wife have sent financial support to The Narrow Path, though I am not sure if he listens to it (if he does, he will not have been very pleased by some of the things I said today and yesterday on the program).

There is no question in my mind that Dr. Stan is a true Christian. He sees this conspiracy stuff through a lens of the Book of Revelation. When he talks about the workings of the secret powers behind the government, he is incredibly well-informed, and he often says that the warfare we are involved in is a spiritual one, and implies that our prayers are pretty much the most powerful way we can resist what is going on. He has become a leading voice nationwide (perhaps worldwide?) in the "conspiracy-theory movement," and does not seem to have any doubts about any conspiracy theory that ever comes up.

He is so well-informed, whenever I hear him, I can't help but think, "He has all his facts, so it seems like it must all be true! But, even if it is, what good does it do me to know about it?" That pretty much sums up my attitude to the matter.

I agree that it seems to be a distraction from the great commission (at least it would be for me, if I decided this was something important to know about), but I have come to think that God calls different Christians into very different kinds of ministry, and maybe God wants Dr. Stan to sound this particular alarm. I just think that, once Christians are made aware of these things (even if they are true), the matter should be relegated to the back of our minds so that we can concentrate on the kingdom of God.

My only problem with these end time conspiracy guys is their ever changing line up. When I first got saved(1998), Clinton was the bad guy who would usher in the apocalypse. Then when he left office, Bush was the target. Now it will be Obama, and Nancy Pelosi.

My aunt became so infatuated with the short wave guys, that it started affecting her everyday life in rather bizarre ways. She would not renew her license, she constantly talked on and on about the government preparing to slaughter all Christians and lead them into concentration camps, and eventually became so hostile towards others who were part of the tax paying 501 churches she would not even speak to them.

Maybe I am judging a bit to harshly, and I believe that these guys are very much Christians, but I get a bad taste in my mouth when I hear them.

Brody, I'm sorry about your Aunt . She's certainly not alone listening to these confident sounding "experts".

It seems to me there are individuals that are always looking for conspiracies. When 911 happened I was thinking to myself “Here come the conspiracy theories”. Before the dust had settled some had already “proven” that the Jews were behind it.

I know there are people who think it wasn’t passenger planes that hit the buildings. Yet I’m certain if the official report from the government was they weren’t passenger planes then these same people would be auguring that they were. One way or another they must find a hidden conspiracy.....or so it seems to me.

In some sense many theorists seem to be feeding their pride. The impression left is there is a hidden knowledge out there and for some reason they always seem to know these secrets???....on every subject no doubt!

Then again Brody, consider this. Just the fact that I'm writing this could mean I'm part of the conspiracy! Be careful who you listen to!

Do a google search for "one world government" (in quotation marks) and you'll find 340,000 entries. Do the same for "new world order" and you'll find 6,090,000 entries.

Read some of the non-religious ones, and you'll discover that a one world government has been in the process of being planned for several decades. It is not yet a complete reality, but I think it will be soon. Such a government will seem to be the only sensible one. Countries which make war will be brought under control by a world army. Terrorists will be thwarted by a world police force.

As a classic futurist, I think the one world government is the next prophetic event which will occur, and which will signal the beginning of the end. I think the first white horse represents this man-made peace which, however, will be short-lived. For the white horse is immediately followed by a red horse which represents bloodshed and war ---- then the black horse, symbolic of famine, and finally the green horse, symbolic of death.

While I respect you Paidion, and your view, I just can't see it in the scriptures. When I was a dispensationalist, I used the same proof text that I learned from Jack Van Impe, Hal Lindsey, Lahaye, ETC...but I never could quite get the dots to connect.

Well Brody, I don't have any passages which I "think teach a one world government". Rather I think a one world government is implied in certain passages. But these passages would convince no one who has opted to link them to certain historic events.

The harlot of Revelation represents Babylon. The woman sits on seven hills represents Rome, the world government in the days when revelation was written.

"The woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth." Rev 17:18

In my opinion, the events depicted in the vision given to John on Patmos were not fulfilled in his day, nor during any of the days when Rome was the world government, but they will be fulfilled when a future world government arises.

I think Daniel 7 describes the same world government:

Thus he said: ‘As for the fourth beast, there shall be a fourth kingdom on earth, which shall be different from all the kingdoms, and it shall devour the whole earth, and trample it down, and break it to pieces. As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings shall arise, and another shall arise after them; he shall be different from the former ones, and shall put down three kings. Daniel 7:23,24

Irenaeus (120-202 A.D.) saw Daniel's prophecy this way, and saw these events as future to the days in which he lived. He wrote:

Daniel too, looking forward to the end of the last kingdom, i.e., the ten
last kings, amongst whom the kingdom of those men shall be partitioned,
and upon whom the son of perdition shall come, declares that ten horns
shall spring from the beast, and that another little horn shall arise in the
midst of them, and that three of the former shall be rooted up before his
face. He says: “And, behold, eyes were in this horn as the eyes of a man,
and a mouth speaking great things, and his look was more stout than his
fellows. I was looking, and this horn made war against the saints, and
prevailed against them, until the Ancient of days came and gave judgment
to the saints of the most high God, and the time came, and the saints
obtained the kingdom.” Then, further on, in the interpretation of the
vision, there was said to him: “The fourth beast shall be the fourth
kingdom upon earth, which shall excel all other kingdoms, and devour the
whole earth, and tread it down, and cut it in pieces. And its ten horns are
ten kings which shall arise; and after them shall arise another, who shall
surpass in evil deeds all that were before him, and shall overthrow three
kings; and he shall speak words against the most high God, and wear out
the saints of the most high God, and shall purpose to change times and
laws; and [everything] shall be given into his hand until a time of times and
a half time,” that is, for three years and six months, during which time,
when he comes, he shall reign over the earth. Of whom also the Apostle
Paul again, speaking in the second [Epistle] to the Thessalonians, and at
the same time proclaiming the cause of his advent, thus says: “And then
shall the wicked one be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus shall slay with the
spirit of His mouth, and destroy by the presence of His coming; whose
coming [i.e., the wicked one’s] is after the working of Satan, in all power,
and signs, and portents of lies, and with all deceivableness of wickedness
for those who perish; because they did not receive the love of the truth,
that they might be saved. And therefore God will send them the working
of error, that they may believe a lie; that they all may be judged who did
not believe the truth, but gave consent to iniquity,”
