There have been several quakes in or around California in the last weeks. Are Steve, his family, and others on this forum safe and sound? Paula

Yes, thanks! We grew up here and earthquakes are fairly commonplace. Only rarely is there a very destructive one (I have lived through a few of those), but the threat is nowhere near what most Easterners imagine. God bless you.

An earthquake hit Saturday morning, in Big Bear, Ca. I was in Victorville, a good hour northwest of there. A strong, rolling type, but no damage and didn't last very long. Measured 4.8, I heard, but the numbers tend to change after a few days. I was here for the Big Bear/Landers quake back in the early 90's and the Northridge quake in 1994.
