I was curious about the word "maybe/perhaps" in Jer. 26:3--is there an actual word "maybe", or is it a translation of a grammatical tense/voice/whatever of a verb, or what?
Yes, there is an actual word in the Hebrew ----- "uwlay" (oo-lah' ee) which means "perhaps" or possibly "suppose".

Sorry Jugulum. I hadn't read the rest of your post. I was scrolling through the posts, and your question caught my eye. I have the bad habit of wishing to provide answers to questions before examining the context.

I will attempt to avoid such foolishness in the future.
