Hi Steve7150,
Hello Roblaine, If the OEC view is correct then each creation day could have been billions of years each and since God created things in increasing complexity (note women are created last) therefore life could have existed billions of years before man yet be created on the same day-age.
I've heard this view but in light of all the evidence, I still find it to be the least likely. Remember that after each day of creation the scripture goes out of it's way to say that "there was evening and morning - the first day" and so on for each day. It seems that if the writer if Genesis wanted to convey a day period that would last billions of years, he would leave that out.

The local flood is also a biblical view.
Not from my research. the language used in Genesis indicate a global flood, and so does much of the physical evidence.

I fear too many Christians don't want to sound ignorant when talking with non-Christians, so they read something into the bible that is not there. As long as the evidence in undecided or if there is convincing evidence for a YE and global flood, I will stand by what the bible teaches. Please look at the arical I posted below.

Thank you,
Robin

I have nothing against the YEC view and it may be true. However IMHO it's not a done deal that the bible only allows for 24hr creation days. And in my world when i speak to an unbeliever it usually comes up sooner or later. So i like to be able to present a viable alternative in this area so i can focus on issues that really matter.
I'm familiar with this issue as i've heard a debate between Hovind and Ross.
