I just listened to the talk on becoming a disciple. I've never heard better! (or even as good, except from George MacDonald). This is the message that the world needs, instead of one that gives people false assurance that they are right in the sight of God based on their having "accepted Christ" and are therefore "covered" by His blood. When one confronts those who have been deceived by the false gospel with the necessity of discipleship, one finds that they have been conditioned to respond, "Salvation is not of works, you know!"

Paidion,

Did you listen to "Becoming a Disciple of Christ" or was it "How Can I Know I'm Really Saved", lecture #1?

Thanks, Homer

I'll wake up at the time of my resurrection by hearing the name by which we are called, and you'll have a kind of knowledge. But for me to live "saved" it would have to be by sheer faith and not by sure knowledge at this point, as I may still have a few more walls to hit or hoops to jump through, but I'm hoping things will turn out alright.
I'm half way through the lectures -- this is one of the main responses he addresses. I highly recommend listening to it.

Homer, I listened to "Becoming a Disciple of Christ". I haven't gotten to the other yet.

This series was a particularly helpful one to me, especially the fourth presentation on obedience to the commandments. There are a whole set of issues swirling in this area that I hadn't ever clearly formulated in my own mind, and this was unbelievably helpful to me in getting my hands around the relevant principles. I'm very appreciative.

Yes, a very good sermon. Didn't cause me to squirm in my seat too much though :D . One of the presidents, I've forgotten which (Lincoln?), said a sermon had to make you squirm in your seat to be good.

God bless, Homer

How about one who make you say "amen" in your heart? ---- one which resonates with what you have previously discovered for yourself and know to be true. In other words ---- CONFIRMATION.
