I am aghast at your skewed priorities! Imagine choosing work over listening to a netcast!

I hope to get recordings of the show to post at our website.
Yes I realize this, it is very sad….I will try and rethink my values. :(

In the meantime, I look forward to the recordings!

SUNDAY NIGHTS—NEW RADIO PROGRAM: “The Road to Find Out”

Steve now hosts an additional program on secular talk radio (directed toward non-Christians), called “The Road to Find Out.” This airs on KSCO, AM 1080, in Santa Cruz. Time: Sundays, 7:00 PM PST. You may be able to listen live on your computer…

If you are using Windows, or a Linux computer, try:

http://www.ksco.com/listentips.cfm#mswin

If this doesn’t work for you, try this link:

http://www.metrofarm.com/mf_Food_Chain_Radio.php
(Under “Four ways to listen” click #2 )
And if the instructions provided on these links look too daunting (as they did to me, having only fairly basic computer skills! - also not wanting to use winamp), the following link provided by mikew in another post seems to be fairly direct, & opens the radio stream in windows media player (you might need to do an additional click to allow it). I imagine it would also work with other players used. -

For those who have such tools and want to try and record it, here's a script I'm going to try to use which uses streamripper and id3tag. I call it with a cron job each Sunday at the appointed time.

#!/bin/bash

## Remove old audio
rm -rf {pathtofolder}/incomplete/*.mp3

## Start recording stream
/opt/local/bin/streamripper ksco.got.net:9000/ -l 3600 -dq {pathtofolder} >/dev/null

## Rename and move file
mv {pathtofolder}/KSCO\ AM\ 1080\ Santa\ Cruz\ CA\ USA\ \(831\)\ 475-1080/incomplete/\ -\ .mp3 {pathtofolder}/road_to_findining_out_$(date +%Y-%m-%d).mp3

## Add tag
/opt/local/bin/id3tag -a "Steve Gregg" -s"$(date +%Y-%m-%d).mp3" -A"Road To Finding Out" {pathtofolder}/road_to_findining_out_$(date +%Y-%m-%d).mp3

I thought this might interest everyone...

Cat Stevens, The Road to Find Out

Well I left my happy home to see what I could find out
I left my folk and friends with the aim to clear my mind out
Well I hit the rowdy road and many kinds I met there
Many stories told me of the way to get there

So on and on I go, the seconds tick the time out
Theres so much left to know, and I'm on the road to find out

Well in the end I'll know, but on the way I wonder
Through descending snow, and through the frost and thunder

Well, I listen to the wind come howl, telling me I have to hurry
I listen to the robins song saying not to worry

So on and on I go, the seconds tick the time out
Theres so much left to know, and Im on the road to findout

Then I found myself alone, hopin someone would miss me
Thinking about my home, and the last woman to kiss me, kiss me

But sometimes you have to moan when nothing seems to suit yer
But nevertheless you know you're locked towards the future

So on and on you go, the seconds tick the time out
There's so much left to know, and I'm on the road to findout

Then I found my head one day when I wasnt even trying
And here I have to say, cause there is no use in lying, lying

Yes the answer lies within, so why not take a look now?
Kick out the devil's sin, pick up, pick up a good book now

The last line, on most lyrics websites, is given as "pick-up a good book now" (as above). However, on http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/c/cat_ ... d_out.html the last line is given as "pick up The Good Book now." If you listen to the song as it is sung, you'd swear he says "The Good Book." I forget what the words on the lyric sheet that came with the album say there (anyone got the album?). I think they say "a good book," but I am sure that he sings "The Good Book." He sings the line three times at the end...see what you think he says—you can hear the song on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cN2JlWBZ ... PL&index=1

This song was written before his conversion to Islam. I am hoping to get him on the show with me as a guest, if he is open to that. The station said that they will contact him, if possible, about it. He lives in London, I believe.

I'm not sure how mac.com handles bandwidth restrictions, but let's give this a shot. For those who missed the first show, see if this works for you. It's about 7 Megabytes.

My thanks to Darin for all your help making the program accessible to people outside the radio listening area.

I would be glad to get some feedback from any of you who may have a chance to listen to the broadcast. Since it is a new venture for me to engage an entirely non-christian radio audience on an ongoing basis, I want to make sure I avoid pitfalls. Please listen to the program through the ears of an unbeliever, as much as it may be possible to do, and make suggestions.

Know that my goal here is not to come off preachy. Non-christians can tune in Christian radio if they want to be preached to (even as my guest on the show regularly listens to The Narrow Path, though she is an atheist). I want to be very up-front with the audience about the fact that I am a convinced Christian, but also to convey the fact that I am a lover of truth and open to evidence that may justify modification of my present viewpoints.

The idea is not so much to confront the audience with a verbal explanation of the gospel, but to give them a demonstration of a side of Christian discipleship that they may have rarely seen or considered to exist—namely, a reasonable and unprejudiced person who believes in Christ because the evidence has compelled him to do so.

After the program, I had conversations with three of the station employees (two of whom were non-christians, and one who said he "struggles" with his faith). Their reactions were positive, and they seemed to listen with great interest when I testified to the way that God answers prayers in my life. A Christian friend, who sat in the studio during the broadcast, commented afterward that it seemed that I already was impacting the radio station staff. That would be great, if a secular radio station came to be owned and operated by Christians (the current owners are Jewish)!

If this was your goal, I think you accomplished it. One reason Christians like me listen to you is because your views and explanations seem authentic instead of forced or contrived. If there's one thing I hate, it's a contrived answer. Non-believers, I think, are the same way. So you should do well in this market. It's just funny to hear you talk about being in the studio for a change! Also, I'm starting to wonder if your "welcome to the narrow path" slip ups were intentional, yet subtle, plugs for the other show.

Darin, thanks again for putting the show up.

Freudian slips, perhaps?
