New Jerusalem
New Jerusalem
I am just curious. I am thinking that most (if not all) on this board view the new Jerusalem in the same way I do.
To me, the new Jerusalem is the church - the new covenant in Jesus Christ. Does anyone disagree and why?

I agree with you Mel.

Ahhhhh, c'mon now...it's not that shocking.Douglas wrote:I agree with you Mel.![]()

I was going to do a scientific examination of the new Jerusalem as believed by the dispensationalists. To them, it is a square-shaped future dwelling place for the saints. I want to calculate the total square footage and see how many people can be squished inside of it. Does anyone have some 21st century dimensions for this "Borg" cube which is able to assimilate people? "Resistance is futile" must have been coined by Calvin...oh oh having too much fun again at other people's expense...

Re: New Jerusalem
just being a devils advocate, and believe me that I am not going to argue about it, but why would the laws of physics as we know them (dimensions, etc) have to apply to this "borg" cube? maybe its a lot bigger on the inside than it appears on the outside.
and no, i dont think its a literal cube.

Re: New Jerusalem
The first time I read all the way though the book of Revelation (with no commentaries or outside opinions in my mind) I immediately recognized the New Jerusalem as the church since it's called the Bride of Christ. I then began to wonder if this was a common view or something novel I'd thought up. I now realize there's nothing novel about my opinions.

Re: New Jerusalem
I figured that if I argued in dispensational terms that all the Christians couldn't fit (especially with their literal 5,000 SF mansions) then maybe they might be open to a different understanding, you know, just in the case the Spirit of God doesn't do His job...TK wrote:just being a devils advocate, and believe me that I am not going to argue about it, but why would the laws of physics as we know them (dimensions, etc) have to apply to this "borg" cube? maybe its a lot bigger on the inside than it appears on the outside.

Re: New Jerusalem
I think most on this forum believe the new Jerusalem represents the church - at least those who have responded.
Now, I have a most important question to ask. I would really appreciate for those who hold to the new Jerusalem being the church to answer the following:
Is 1 Corinthians 15:51-54 a future event, a present event, or a past event?
1 Corinthians 15:51-55 - Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Re: New Jerusalem
Future. At least it seems like Paul was talking about something that shall happen.

The reason for my answer in the form of a question is because it seems so straightforward it must be a trick question. There aren't many full preterists around here.
