I can totally relate Brother. I have been down for a while now. Some fleshly issues are getting the better hand, and its all my fault. I am praying for strength and the joy that I had when I was victorious. And most of all, I am praying "Is what I am living for, worth Christ dying for"?

For our God is a consuming fire.
Hebrews 12:29

this is a good thread and nice to hear how human we all are. not that I am patting us on the back but sometimes daily, fleshy realities can sometimes seem redundant with all the intellectual learning we are into. But they do have their place.
I know some days that are very difficult and dry, I try to pray more etc. I am reminded simply of.....
"this to shall pass".

Have you ever considered what is normal when it comes to spirituality? Why is it we question when we go through the so called blahs but we don't question the highs? I have learned to not favor the highs anymore than I favor the lows. I want eveness. I want contentment and an attitude of security. My highs or lows are selfmade, I have found. My lows usually stem from expectations I have trouble maintaining and my highs are based on feelings with minimal momentum. Of course I am speaking for myself and you may not hold to this experience of mine
When I was younger I used to experience a zeal that really was not me and I would soon settle back into the position I neither had to work at or reject, depending on which end of the spectrum I was at at the time. I am at my best when I just do what God has gifted me in. My gifted side is the real me and the side of me that takes no effort and has the most reliability. It not of me that I am gifted but it is of God. For example, I am a natural at what I do for a living. I did not recieve schooling for what I now do but everyday my skills are refined and I become more proficient daily. I am most comfortable in doing just what I do naturally.
This can be the same way with our spirituality. Since we know that we are each given our own measure of faith then we have a certain starting place that compares to no one but reflects only the Pattern and that is Christ. A true follower of Christ is content in that faith but anticipates growth that naturally comes by perseverence.
I do not know what the spiritual blahs really are any better then I understand spiritual highs, but I do know what contentment is and that is what is commanded of us. Contentment is a quality in us that God seems to work with.

I think the answer to the "blahs" in our Christian life is found in the words of Messiah, Acts 20:35: "And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive'."
It works for me. There is no better way to get out of the dump than to do good to someone else.

A Berean
I heard a tape by David Wilkerson recently he spoke of that same
thing Homer.
It is good to listen to conversations and learn of elderly or widows
that are in need. If we have the ability ( not just finances) to help
those old, sick, unable why not pitch in and not only bless them but
yourself as well...In this the Lord is well pleased! Jesus told us
to help widows and orphans in their time of need, and, those we
quietly listen to in conversation.

I'd like to add once again, it is really a testament to read all your replies in that we really are all part of the body and each ones ( replies) are needed and each have great value. Everyone seems to have a piece of the pie!
Thanks

This is related to my recent post -- here:TK wrote:i really appreciate all of your input. it is simply amazing to me how these blahs can hit so quickly, for seemingly no reason. they seem to hit me about once per year, at no particular time, and seem to last a month or so. too often and for too long, as far as i am concerned.
i agree, JC, that it definitely is a test. all of your input regarding how to come out of it is well-taken and heeded by me.
i am reminded of Elijah's experience:
Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. I Kings 19:11-12
God is always there.. sometimes it takes patience and our utmost attention to notice.
