Hi
I see this is an older post but I'll put my 2 cents in..ca ching!
I love fernando Ortega. His stuff is really uplifting and beautiful. I have basically all his cds and really don't have a favorite. There is alot of praise mixed with songs regarding every day things we think or go through. He's very poetic and has a soft kind of melodic voice with mainly acoustic guitar work.

For those of you who like Derek Webb -- he's rejoined Caedman's Call (his first band). They're one of my favorites (though I'm a bit partial -- they're from my church and our pastor's son and daughter in law are in the band). Derek was one of the best things about them in the early days (his lyrics, voice, and guitar/general musicality). I haven't heard their new album yet, but it was just released a couple of days ago.

I have the new album already. It's pretty good. It takes me a lil while to really like a new CD. But it's about what you'd expect from a Derek Webb & CC reunion. The lyrics are a bit more provocative than the typical CC, but the CC sound remains. Good CD.

Is this still available somewhere? I must have been in hibernation when you first posted this.mattrose wrote:Good question.
Without thinking a ton into the past, I'll mention 1 CD that is really influencing me right now. It is a free CD (available for download online) by Derek Webb. It's a call to radical Christianity.
You can download it here for free

And you can read the lyrics at the link below

I especially think people on this forum will enjoy #'s 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 & 10

Unfortunately, I doubt it's still available for 'free'
The cheapest price I can find is to download the CD for $10 on iTunes

I like early Shane Barnard- specifically Rocks Won't Cry and Psalms.
I also really liked the first couple Enter the Worship Circle cds.
Andrew Peterson and Randall Goodgame are good as well.
