those who bless Israel are blessed....
those who bless Israel are blessed....
We all have read that passage but here is my question. Is it possible that the social ills, economic ills and foreign affair problems for the US are a direct result of Gods judgment (curse) on the US for supporting anti-christ israel over the true Israel the Chruch?

The passage actually says:
Genesis 12:1-3 (NASB)
Gen 12:1 Now the LORD said to Abram, "Go forth from your country, And from your relatives And from your father's house, To the land which I will show you;
Gen 12:2 And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing;
Gen 12:3 And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed."
The blessing and cursing promise was made to only the one man "Abram" who was later called Abraham.
I think blind support for the modern anti-Christian nation calling itself "Israel" is much more likely to bring a curse than a blessing.

It is ironic that if anyone says something negative about Israel people automatically assume you must be anti-semetic. The facts are I see non-christian jews as lost souls and not some special secondary plan. In this country if you dare speak out against the evils commited by Isreal you get labelled anti-semetic, usually by those of a certain eschatology.
If Israel is so democratic why haven't we seen any palestinians in the government.
If people have a far greater chance of hearing the gospel if they are free please explain to me why the church is growing faster in south east asia, and africa than in any other time in history.

Do I feel the US government should support the church? I depends on what you call support. Already the gov protects the church in many ways isn't that a type of support.Rick_C wrote:Jim,

Jim & Laz,
Do you think that -- in these days -- God Almighty curses democratic nations who support other ones?
Does God care if a nation is democratic or not? Yes i do believe God would curse a democratic nation for supporting another. That whole depends on the direction the nation is taking.

To be fair, there are non-Jewish people in the government of Israel. But, make no mistake, there is Jewish discrimination against non-Jews.If Israel is so democratic why haven't we seen any palestinians in the government.
Control of news makes it rare to find mention of how Palestinian Christians whose families for hundreds of years had homes and owned land in the area where Jesus Christ walked are persecuted and forced out by policies that favor those who call themselves Jews in today's nation called Israel. Jews who become Christians also become persecuted outcasts.
It is as Jim says:
The "Israel can do no wrong" crowd attacks whenever a truth is presented that might make Jews look too much like descendants of those who were "cut off" and condemned for unbelief. In reality, unbelieving Jews and Gentiles are equally lost and prone to unrighteousness. It is not anti-Semitism if I do not join in giving honor and glory to everything Jewish....if anyone says something negative about Israel people automatically assume you must be anti-semetic. That being true, Islam is a demonic excuse for a religion that should be opposed by a government trying to protect its people. Yet, most followers of Islam are its victims and are only equally as lost as Jews. Remember that Islam calls Jesus a prophet and Judaism still maintains that Jesus was at best a false prophet who needed to be killed so their faith would survive.
I still do not believe lost Jewish people should be favored and allowed to persecute everyone who is not Jewish. Even Jews who see the evils of what goes on and speak out against it are attacked for not remaining silent.
An interesting presentation made by a young Israeli woman showing some of what it is like to be a Christian in Israel can be seen at:

Don't you think you are being too technical here?Paidion wrote:Israelites in Israel are Palestinians.If Israel is so democratic why haven't we seen any palestinians in the government.
Obviously the term 'Palestinian' is used to describe the Arabs in the land between the Jordan and Mediterranean who are descendants of the Arabs there before Jewish immigration began in the late 1800's.

Exactly my thought.
Jewish Christians are also attacked.
So who should we be supporting? Should we speak out against fellow christians who support a government that is persecutes christians in their country.

In my opinion it is a no brainer that our obligation is to support all Christians in the Palestinian region whether they are Messianic Jews, Arab Christians or whatever. I would hate to see the statistics for how much money evangelicals have sent to aid Judaism compared to how much they've spent to aid the church in that area. Even more importantly, I would hate to know how many prayers have been prayed for political Israel compared to how few have been prayed for Palestinian Christians.
