Trying to remember source of quote

Post by _darin-houston » Sat Nov 10, 2007 9:49 pm

There is a saying I think of often and can't remember the precise quote or its source. Anyone?

With respect to discipleship vs. seeker driven ministries, it goes something like "I worry about the depth of discipleship." God worries about the size of its influence.

I did a little research and found the following quote in a review of a book by Cliff Mcmanis. The below quote is out of context and from separate pages, and is probably not what you are looking for, but I thought the last part might be similar to what you recall.
"God has appointed us to represent Him wherever we go--at home,
with the relatives, with the neighbors, on the job, to the mailman, to
the checker at the supermarket, to the barber, with the waitress at
the restaurant...Focus on the depth of your ministry to people, and
let God worry about the breadth of it." (pp. 126,130)
Quoted from Christian Living Beyond Belief: Biblical Principles For The Life Of Faith, by Cliff Mcmanis. Quoted in a review by C.L. Blakley. I found it here.

Just speculating, your quote also could have been from something written by Dan Reiland. I did not find that quote, but it sounds like something he might have written.

Blessings,

That is, indeed, the quote -- but, I don't think that was the source I got it from -- it may well have been something Steve mentioned on the radio -- I simply don't recall. It's a great quote, though. I do wish I could remember the context in which I heard it.

Thanks
