I have been contemplating this, but first I want to say I am not talking about faith plus works. I was thinking along the lines of ancient jewish marriage and how it resembles Jesus as Groom and Us as brides. As I understand when a marriage covenant was made the new husband would go off to prepare a house, much like Jesus says he is doing for us. The bride, Us, is suppose to go off to prepare ourselves. In this preperation it isn't doing good works to merit salvation, but it is to grow to be like Christ which would naturally result in works. We are to grow ourselves spiritually to be like Christ so we are prepared for when the groom shows up to take His bride to the new home. In this I believe salvation comes by faith and continued faith in the groom to do as He promised plus are efforts to grow like Him spiritually, which would show in our works. So essentially we are saved by faith as long as we are growing to be like Christ and not of works. It all boils down to a true living faith that grows. None of us I believe want to be a bride with only a half full lantern when the groom comes for His brides.
