Actually, we are told something like that ---- in the very first sentence:

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants––things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw. Rev 1:1,2 NKJV

That little Greek word "sāmainō", translated as "signified", means "made known by signs".

God revealed to Jesus the things that were to take place, and Jesus made it known by signs through his angel sent to John. Thus all that John saw in his revelation were signs or symbols of the actual events which were to take place.

However, John tells us not only what he saw in his vision (the signs) but also states some things that will take place in a literal sense (not signs).
With a careful reading, we can distinguish the two.

Steve wrote:I recently went back to the Norman Geisler links mentioned in the opening post of this thread, and found out that Geisler's criticisms of Hank and of me have been removed from his site (I hope it wasn't something I said!).
Steve, it appears that the links stopped working because the SES has apparently removed all of Dr. Geisler's material from their web site, and he now appears to have his own web site. The original article about the Hannegraaf material is relocated here:

http://normangeisler.net/articles.htm

I figured this out by just going up a level on the url and discovering that all of Geisler's material is gone. He's still on faculty at the college, so I figured they didn't remove it for cause. Then I saw on their "Links" page a reference to Geisler's own site. Apparently he just "upgraded."

I don't see a link to your response to him on his site, though (unless its attached as an appendix or something in the original article, which I haven't yet examined).

He also appears to have written something in response to The Apocalypse Code as well. I haven't read them (neither Hank's book nor Geisler's critique) yet, though. Thought you would be interested to see it there, though.

Maybe this belongs in the announcement section. Anyway, I came across this handy website today which reminded me of this post -

http://web.archive.org

The site owners apparently download as much of the internet as possible on a regular basis. Five versions (perhaps all identical) of Norm's articles were archived and can be retrieved. For example,...

http://web.archive.org/web/200609040205 ... ple_2.html

So, you might want to "bookmark" the above link for the next time you need a no-longer available URL.

Wow, that's amazing. Who would've ever thought of archiving the entire internet. :?:

Let's see, now what did I put in that blog again.
