Prayer request and suggestions??
Prayer request and suggestions??
I am currently in prayer to see if it is truly the Lords will or my own that I open a Christian teen facility where they can go to listen to christian bands, have youth group nights/events, guest speakers, non-violent video/computer games, etc., etc.
I would really appreciate your prayers as I truly believe and have faith in the power of prayer. If I open such a place I want to make sure it is serving the Lords purpose and planting a seed in our youth. The area is growing rapidly and the youth have very little to do, especially on the weekends. They tend to "hang out" around the town and often times get into trouble. I want a place that they will be drawn to and want to come back to with friends.
I have been praying that God will "open doors" if this is in his will. If not, I am asking that they are "closed".
If you have any suggestions for making this a success or any suggestions at all, I would truly appreciate your feedback. Most of all I would appreciate your prayers.
Thanks,
Dan Loveless

my church has an outreach event every couple of weeks for middle school age kids (6th through 8th grade). They call it "End Zone"- it sounds generally like what you are talking about- they have video games set up, they play music, they do some of the popular line dancing. It's not really a "christian" event but more as a service to the community to give kids this age someplace safe to hang out on a friday night. there is no preaching, but they invite the kids to come to the youth group.
of course it takes quite a bit of supervision. kids can get pretty wild, even in the church (we have a large all-purpose room) but overall all there hasnt been too many serious discipline issues. i think on one occasion they caught a kid with some drugs and they called the police; sometimes a police officer will stop by during the event. overall it has been a big success and i think the parents appreciate it. a lot of people end up coming to church who otherwise might not due to events like this.

Thanks for the feedback! It is very useful.
I appreciate your feedback. This is really good information as I am trying to think of good ways to bring youth "outside" of the Church in as well. It is great to hear that it is bringing people into the the Church as a result. Would you please pray for my wife and I as we are in the early stages of planning? We need prayer that if it is the Lords will the provisions to make this happen will be worked out and "doors will be open."
Thanks again for your feedback

Just a thought regarding your website - perhaps a less formal photo might be better? Especially since it's a youth outreach; I was thinking your boys at least could ditch the ties and wear jeans or something? If you have any suggestions for making this a success or any suggestions at all, I would truly appreciate your feedback. Most of all I would appreciate your prayers.
But I'm an Aussi. Perhaps for the American youth culture the look is quite appropriate; or it might be exactly the look you prefer.
Anyway it's just a minor detail but it's the first thing that struck me.

I would go for a less formal photo as well.
At first I thought that was a picture of several youth kids!

I appreciate your feedback on the photo. I had this on my hard drive and used it without even thinking about the attire, etc.!
Your comments make sense! I will look around for a more "relaxed" photo. However, this site is meant for only area churches and other interested parties during the planning stage. This will not be the "official" website to drive people to the facility.
Please keep the comments and feedback coming!
God Bless!
