Hello From Oklahoma
I just wanted to say hello. I am a Missionary Baptist who holds a Preterist view of Revelation. Since I am the only one I know that holds to that view it is a bit lonely. I listen to Steve Gregg on line and enjoy his teaching very much. I enjoy reading the postings and look forward to some interesting discussions in the future.
Re: Hello From Oklahoma
Hello, and welcome.
You'll probably find some people here hold similar views, whether it's partial or full preterist.

Welcome to the thread. I'm new here as well.
A preterist baptist? That seems odd.

Preterism
Preterism is the belief that all Bible prophecies, including those concerned with the return of Christ, resurrection of the dead, rapture, judgment, and arrival of the kingdom of God, came to fulfillment in a.d. 70 upon the destruction of Herod’s temple in Jerusalem as predicted by Jesus in Luke 21:

Or someone that believes that scripture was partially fulfilled by 70AD with the Second Coming, the resurrection of the dead, and the final judgement still to come.RND wrote:Someone that mistakenly believes that scripture was fulfilled by 70AD. Yikes!TK wrote:what's preterist again?

partial (or maybe not...)preterism
Re: Hello From Oklahoma
Welcome to this forum, ARC.
We do some pretty serious studying and also have a bit of fun.
Which reminds me, I've heard of a new view.
They're called "Dispensational Preterists."
They believe: the rapture happened exactly seven years from any moment ago.
(joke, supposed to be funny...well, anyways)....

Hi arealcinch,
Welcome.
You managed to get some debate going in the welcome thread.
Ok. Then what is someone called who properly sees that prophecies were fulfilled in AD70?
The definition provided is rather a subset of preterism, the more controversial version.
The part that is worst is "Preterism is the belief that all Bible prophecies." The better definition is to say that the prophecies of the Messiah and the judgments on Jerusalem were fulfilled. The definition should fit what Jesus said in Luke 21:32 that "all should be fulfilled" -- the "all" can be seen to pertain to the judgments prophesied over Judea and the nations (in the same events).

Hmm. There's an overrestrictive definition there.RND wrote: Preterism
