Check these out... They allow folks to provide contingent contributions and make contingent commitments depending on contributions.

It solves the problem of someone having to "hold the bag" in the event not enough money is raised for something.

I've just had a look, interesting sites! But otherwise, for myself, I would be just as happy to send a contribution to TNP using the existing means, & earmark it for this project, or 'road to find out' in general...I assume Steve would be able to keep a separate fund until enough money was collected, even if it took a while.darinhouston wrote:Check these out... Re: Radio Broadcasts?
Darin, Thanks for sharing the sites! I'm excited to know about these services. I know of a situation (recently solved) that would have benefited from such a service had we known of it. Others are sure to arise. For the "Comrex Access rack mount" I'm not at all uncomfortable with the idea of simply earmarking gifts to be held until the ministry has what is needed to move forward.Suzana wrote:steve wrote:...I am not opposed to taking up a collection for the "Comrex Access rack mount" (which is the piece of equipment we lack). Re: Radio Broadcasts?
That would be very kind. Are you saying that you are willing to set the thing up? I know too little about these things to know what to do.
Re: Radio Broadcasts?
Actually, I was thinking like Suzana, that it would be fine with me to just send it to you. But would that be bothersome?
Re: Radio Broadcasts?
The latter site restricts its use to things not related to charity or "causes," so it isn't suitable.
I'd be glad to help set up a project with the other site if you're comfortable with the language of the pledge:
"I will (enter your pledge) but only if (10 [or other number]) (other people) will (do the same). The other people must sign up before (_____)."
Another option would be to set up a bank account with Chase or another easy-access bank,
OR the funds could be sent in the usual way, in which the burden of tracking them would be yours.
Seems like the bank account would be the easiest all around - and the most user-friendly. I'll look into it and report back.

Hmm. Looks like I don't have this "quoting" business down. I quoted myself saying something before I could even say it. Laughing, Joan
Re: Radio Broadcasts?
Hi all,
I've had a couple conversations with Chase Bank. It will be an easy matter to set up an account that we can all contribute to - all of us in the states, that is. I asked about Chase in Australia and other countries, but don't have an answer yet. James from the local branch is doing a little research this afternoon to confirm the details of what we need and how it will work, and I have an appointment to meet with him tomorrow afternoon. I could open an account then, or report back to see if everyone is comfortable with the arrangements.
The questions covered in my conversations with Chase:
1. How to name the account
2. How to assure account-ability (sorry; couldn't resist!)
3. How to avoid creating a messy tax event
4. How to claim tax write-offs on contributions
5. What donors will need in order to make contributions
Am I missing anything? I'm no financial guru, so I assume I am. Feel free to make suggestions, guys!
In Him,
Joan

Re: Radio Broadcasts?
I know very little about banking, except that I write checks and make deposits regularly.
I don't know if it makes a difference, but The Narrow Path's bank account is already at Chase. We have a 501(c)(3), so I wonder if it would just be a matter of opening another account like the existing one, in which anyone could make deposits?
