I think NKJV is my favorite for the following reasons
1) I think it is a solid translation
2) I think it flows well, easy to read
3) I find it easy to memorize
4) It's less offensive to KJV only people
5) It's not very archaic in its language
6) It was the translation I used when I first fell in love with the word
I tend to use the NKJV, NIV, NASB the most

I mostly use the NKJV for the following reasons.
1) Like the NASB (updated version), it is a good word for word translation, which makes it easier for deeper study.
2) It uses modern english!
3) It was about $40.00 cheaper than the comparable bible in NASB.
4) Most of the students and teachers in our Bible School use NKJV because we got a real good bulk deal on NKJV wide margins a couple years ago.
I also keep a copy of the KJV to use with my Strong's. It was cheaper to get a KJV concordance and a KJV than a NKJV or NASB concordance (I'm noticing a common theme).
I have a $5.00 paperback version of the NASB somewhere. The kind with the pages and cover that looks as if you left it out in the rain after the first hour you read it. I think I gave away my NIV, or maybe it is with the NASB.

ESV is my main translation for study.
The ESV embodies both word-for-word exactness and easy readability. The translator’s sought to be as literal as possible while maintaining clarity of expression and reasonable sentence structure. I have always loved the NASB, but the sentence structure and readability was often sacrificed in an attempt to maintain “word-for-word.”
ESV is an essentially literal translation which I like for study. I’m not a proponent of the “thought-for-thought” or “dynamic equivalence” translations, although I do use them for comparison and casual reading.
Gender neutral language where it renders literally what is in the original without attempting to be politically correct (like the TNIV).

I use predominately the Rotherham's Emphasized Version but also the King James for use with the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. I also have an NIV and a Revised Version somewhere around here. If the house catches fire and I can save only one it'll be the Rotherham's. Hopefully it won't. I don't smoke and the wiring is up to code I think.

This year I read my new $4 ESV. Last year it was a nice slimline NASB. I've actually never read an NIV all the way through (everything but Jeremiah and Ezekiel, though).
Next year I may read through my $2 NKJV. Or go back to my NASV study bible....or my old Student Bible (NIV)! So many translations...so little time...

i really like the ESV, but oddly enough, i have quite a love for the NLT, it was the first Bible i got after becoming a follower of Christ, it was really a blessing for my brain that was partially disentigrated by all the weed i used to smoke! I thank the LORD for saving me,
