If your view is true, then gender roles are entirely erased in this life, aside from the dictates of biology. By that I mean there is no submission of wives to husbands, nor would there be submission to authorities, as all are equal in Christ and slaves could revolt against their masters, something that Paul wrote a whole, albeit short letter, to refute.

I have oft pointed out that we don't really understand where the unintended application of this to the present day ends. Can women be husbands, men be wives? Are women available to be elders, as they are equal to men per this verse in your application and so on. Gay "Marriage" is even ushered in since we cannot distinguish between roles we play and I could theoretically wish to be a wife to a man who wishes to be a husband.

I realize there are some who see this verse as applying to the end of gender roles but I don't necessarily see it that way. A Jew is a Jew, a slave is a slave and a man is a man etc. The issue Paul is dealing with throughout Romans is the revelation that the Gentiles are included in the covenant....which was groundbreaking news at that time. Thus, we are all included as equal heirs regardless of our ethnic background (Jew or Gentile), gender or social standing.

For me the sidebar discovery is that this application in the future, as it must be realized in the future (not fully in the present time) that there is no male nor female. We know we are also like the angels, hence my conclusions. There is a speed limit NOW, in Montana, in the recent past there wasn't one.
