Applying that verse to the present age presents thorny problems, aside from giving each fellow heir the respect they are due. If your view is true, then gender roles are entirely erased in this life, aside from the dictates of biology. By that I mean there is no submission of wives to husbands, nor would there be submission to authorities, as all are equal in Christ and slaves could revolt against their masters, something that Paul wrote a whole, albeit short letter, to refute.anothersteve wrote:"I've always thought of that verse to be addressing the removal of distinctions in God's present kingdom. That would obviously mean we would all be one in Christ in heaven as well."
I have oft pointed out that we don't really understand where the unintended application of this to the present day ends. Can women be husbands, men be wives? Are women available to be elders, as they are equal to men per this verse in your application and so on. Gay "Marriage" is even ushered in since we cannot distinguish between roles we play and I could theoretically wish to be a wife to a man who wishes to be a husband.
